语本汉・刘向・说苑・卷七・政理：“夫耳闻之不如目见之，目见之不如足践之。”后指听人传闻，不如亲眼一见来的确实。《文明小史・第十五回》：“但是一件，耳闻不如目见，耳闻是假，目见始真。”亦作“耳闻不如眼见”。
